Everyone should experience happiness in their life. However, happiness, once you achieve it, is not like a college degree that is forever yours. Happiness is a choice and requires focus and intention. This means “feeling good” has to really be important to you and become a part of who you are and how you look at life. How you feel indicates how much of “you” is present in any moment. Happiness requires getting out of your own way and choosing thoughts that feel good to you. It means being your own best friend and not holding a perspective that you have to struggle in life. The old saying “perception is reality” is the key. If you look for what’s not working you will find it, and conversely, if you look for what’s is working you will find it as well. You get to choose how you see situations in your life so choose wisely.
3 things to know about happiness:
- Happiness is possible. Happiness is not something you find down the road or in your next life after you’ve suffered enough or paid a high enough price.
- You deserve happiness. Most people are unconsciously holding themselves apart from happiness and thinking happiness is something that maybe can be achieved later. You may feel you have more important things to accomplish like getting things done. But you don’t have time not to focus on happiness because it effects the outcomes though which you achieve your goals and experience life.
- You are the creator of your experience. Many times the things that frustrate you are not all that serious. Most people just develop a habit of seeking and finding things to be upset over. Even if things are not going the way you want, you have control over your response to them. Go with the flow more and look for ways to lighten up.
